Game studio Aurora Arts has secured a new investment of SEK 7 million from game industry veteran Ellen Mellåker. The investment will be used to complete and launch the adventure game Fae & Fauna.
In late 2022, Tilla Segerstedt applied to Science Park Skövde's startup program för games - Sweden Game Startup and pitched her game concept at Sweden Game Conference. In early 2023, Aurora Arts was founded, and later that year Skaraborgs Invest invested approximately SEK 2 million in the company. A prototype of Fae & Fauna was developed, and in 2024, Ellen Mellåker, co-founder of Redbeet Interactive, saw strong potential in both the game and the team. Through her company Ellaria Invest, she invested SEK 5 million.
Moving Toward the Launch of Fae & Fauna
Aurora Arts has since continued developing Fae & Fauna, an adventure game that has evolved to adapt to new technology and a rapidly changing game industry. The company has grown to seven employees and has now secured a follow-on investment of SEK 7 million.
“When I first met Tilla, I was struck by her incredible drive and ambitious vision. Since then, she and her strong team have worked tirelessly to turn that vision into reality. I’m proud to continue supporting Tilla and Aurora Arts on their journey,” says Ellen Mellåker.
“This is the final investment needed to bring Fae & Fauna to market, and we’re incredibly grateful for the trust placed in us. The game is planned for release in 2027,” says Tilla Segerstedt, Founder and CEO of Aurora Arts, adding:
“The startup program has been tremendously valuable throughout our journey. Support from business coaches in entrepreneurship, along with a strong game development community made up of both established studios and startups, has been crucial in helping us move forward.”
Reinvestment Strengthens the Game Development Community
“It’s fantastic to see a clear trend of reinvestment within our game development community. Founders of successful game studios, many of whom were once startups themselves or have their roots in Skövde, are choosing to invest in new studios. We’ve seen several examples of this recently, and the collaboration between Ellen Mellåker and Aurora Arts is one of them,” says Anna Emanuelsson, Business Developer at Science Park Skövde.
