Science Park Skövde has received a SEK 3 million grant from Sparbanksstiftelsen Skaraborg – an investment that strengthens the science park’s work with innovation and entrepreneurship.
On Tuesday, Science Park Skövde was surprised by representatives from Sparbanksstiftelsen Skaraborg and Sparbanken Skaraborg, who announced a contribution that opens new opportunities to accelerate the science park’s development. The grant is part of the foundation’s anniversary initiative and marks the fourth major reinvestment in the region this year.
“It’s a significant amount of money. But perhaps even more important than the sum itself is the message it sends – that we are a strategically important development partner in Skaraborg,” says Ingi Jonasson, CEO of Science Park Skövde.
Enabling new initiatives
The support gives Science Park Skövde the opportunity to explore new development areas – both within game development and other future-focused fields. While no specific decisions have been made yet, the grant provides greater potential to turn ideas into reality.
“We’re constantly exploring new ways to develop. This makes it possible to take the next step in several initiatives,” says Ingi Jonasson.
The funding may, for example, allow the science park to allocate new resources in the form of expertise and working hours to drive strategically important initiatives forward.
Focus on all of Skaraborg
Sparbanksstiftelsen Skaraborg operates in the municipalities of Skara, Vara, Götene, and Essunga, but through its anniversary initiatives, it also aims to contribute to broader regional development across Skaraborg. Alongside the donation to Science Park Skövde, the foundation also announced an opportunity for the University of Skövde and other post-secondary education providers within its area of operation to apply for funding for development projects linked to education and research.
“We want to contribute to long-term and sustainable development in Skaraborg. By strengthening opportunities for research and education, we help create conditions for both individuals and businesses to grow,” says Liselotte J Sterneborn, Chair of Sparbanksstiftelsen Skaraborg.
