Driven by a shared ambition to strengthen the fintech landscape in Skaraborg, several regional companies joined forces with Science Park Skövde. Soon after, the Fintech Skövde forum was born.

"This initiative is a significant step towards attracting and retaining talent in the region," says Ann-Sofie Molin, Pagero Sverige AB.

Skövde has long been known for its strong fintech companies, with several major players and exciting new startups. Despite the solid industry expertise, collaboration between companies has historically been limited. Until now.

The initiative is led by Science Park Skövde AB, together with six leading fintech companies:

  • Bizzdo
  • Bricknode
  • DevCode
  • InExchange
  • Pagero
  • Stacc Farm

A necessary collaboration for the future

Fintech Skövde is a platform where participants actively drive the content. By collaborating on issues such as talent acquisition and development, as well as networking and sharing experiences, the forum strives to stimulate learning and collaboration. This is essential to keep pace with the rapid development of the industry. Another important goal is to jointly advocate and act as a united voice for the industry.

"I see many advantages in collaborating with other fintech players. The industry has high demands for domain knowledge and many regulatory challenges that software companies need to navigate without losing pace and innovation. By learning from each other, we all develop faster," says Patrik Wallander, CEO of Bizzdo.

Attracting talent to Skövde

Over the past decade, Skövde has gained a strong position in the fintech industry. By offering exciting career opportunities, the companies hope to attract more skilled people to Skövde and retain those who are already here. Taking a joint approach to these issues will help companies remain competitive.

"By collaborating within Fintech Skövde, we create opportunities to attract and develop top-qualified talent, which benefits not only Pagero but our entire region. It contributes to creating a larger and more diverse range of jobs in the region that makes people want to stay here. Together, we can show that Skövde and Skaraborg offer a quality of life and career opportunities that are strong competitors to the big cities," says Ann-Sofie Molin, Pagero Sverige AB.

However, the road to launching the fintech forum has not been without its challenges.

"There have been a couple of attempts to start a fintech forum in Skövde over the years, but for various reasons, it hasn't worked out. Therefore, we were initially a bit skeptical about trying again, but at the same time we saw it as an exciting challenge," explains Carolina Green, Business Developer at Science Park Skövde AB, and continues:

"In this forum, it is very clear that the companies themselves are responsible for the content, and we are only there as a facilitator, which we believe is a big part of why the collaboration works so well. Here, prestige and competition are put aside, and people collaborate to achieve a higher benefit than what an individual company can achieve."
