Startups impress investors with their pitches

On February 22, Science Park Skövde hosted one of its annual pitch events, where startups in the startup program had the opportunity to present their ideas to investors and an audience.

The day began with four startups in the digitalization field pitching their business ideas. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to games, with 13 studios presenting their game ideas to 19 investors and publishers.

The purpose of the pitch event is for companies to test their business and game ideas on investors and receive valuable feedback that they can use in the further development of their product or service. Some startups, who are further along in the process, pitch for funding or to find new partners.

"Networking with experienced business coaches, entrepreneurs, investors, and startups, as well as pitching our idea in this forum, is incredibly rewarding and confirms our belief in the project's potential. It further motivates us to continue our journey forward," says Stefan Saliba, co-founder and CEO of A.I Secure, that was one of the participants.

Anna Emanuelsson, business coach at Science Park Skövde AB, explains that a cornerstone of the startup program is for companies to test their ideas against the market early on.

"The panel's professional feedback and pointed questions are incredibly important for the companies, but also for the startup program. The feedback given during the event is used for the companies' continued development," she says.

Promising startups

The investors were impressed by the startups that pitched.

"I thought it was a great event! It was both stimulating and inspiring to see the creativity and drive that exists in the games industry in general and at Science Park Skövde in particular. It will be incredibly exciting to follow the entrepreneurs on their future journey - upwards and onwards," says Rickard Myrelid, business angel.

Daniela Sjunnesson, partner at node.vc, agrees.

"It was a pleasure to participate in the pitch event. It was fun to see all the well-executed pitches! High quality, well-organized, and a fantastic atmosphere. Skövde's game scene continues to shine with promising startups."

After the pitches, the day concluded with an after-pitch mingle where companies, investors, and game publishers could continue their conversations in a more relaxed setting.

Following the successful event, work continues to develop the companies in the startup program. It is now only a few months until the next event - in June, it will be time for the companies to once again take the stage and show that their business idea is worth investing in.

"It is extremely valuable for the companies to get out of the 'bubble' and pitch to someone who is standing outside and put themselves in a situation where it is actually for real. It creates a tension and gives an extra nerve to perform at the top," says Daniel Nilsson, business coach at Science Park Skövde AB.
